Food for Thought

I have a question for those of you who actively worked to make sure homosexual couples were denied the right to marry. Where in the bible does it say its okay to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation? Where in the bible does it say its okay to actively make people feel like they are less than human beings, just because they’re attracted to someone of the same sex? More importantly, where in the bible does it say we are to love one another UNCONDITIONALLY, without prejudice? Oh yea, right here:

“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in LOVE (emphasis mine) to one another and TO ALL (emphasis mine), just as we do to you.” 1st Thessalonians 3:12 NKJV

Now, where does it say what love is? Oh yea, right here:

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not PARADE ITSELF (emphasis mine), is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE NEVER FAILS (emphasis mine).” 1st Corinthians 13:4-8a NKJV

Love and bigotry cannot share a bed. Love and discrimination cannot coexist in the TRUE Christian’s heart. And isn’t it the Christian’s first and foremost calling to love ALL sinners unconditionally, regardless of whether or not they return that love? Spending millions of dollars to make an entire group of people second class citizens isn’t love. SHAME ON YOU.

I’m not saying you have to agree with what they are doing. What I am saying is Jesus loves tax collectors, hookers, and drug dealers just as much as He loves you and me. And since our whole goal is to become more like Christ, don’t you think we should too? Just some food for thought on a Saturday morning.
