If you look over to the right, you’ll notice that yet another widget has been added to my blog. As many of you know, I am a big fan of people helping people, and SocialVibe is a big fan of it as well. The only difference between me and them? They have a small army of people, money, and connections to make it happen, and I don’t. What I do have though is a blog, a MySpace, a twitter, and a Facebook. And I have friends. Not many, but enough. And hopefully, I have readers that are just as passionate as I am about helping those who are less fortunate than themselves.
Another issue that is near and dear to my heart is LGBTQ youth, mostly because I used to be one of them. I know what its like to wonder if anyone would really miss me if I decided to end my life. I know what it was like to be picked on, teased, harassed, and downright hated because I was different. And I know that I would have definitely appreciated people and organizations like The Trevor Project, which is dedicated to helping LGBTQ youth who are considering suicide. And I’ll be damned if another generation of kids goes through life without the resources they need, so I’m doing all I can to make sure they get the resources they need to be joyful, productive members of society. And you can help as well.
I don’t have money, Lord knows that. What I do have is time and a computer. And since your reading this, I’m assuming you have the same. So click on that widget, take a few moments out of your day to complete some activities and send a few requests to your friends. It’s completely free, and you’ll be helping kids like Tyler Clementi realize they’re not alone in this world and that somebody DOES care about them.
