There’s something to be said…

about walking your dog, so I’m going to say it.

First off, who the hell decided it should be 80+ degrees in JANUARY, because I’d really like to ask them what the hell they were thinking.

But that isn’t my point. Over the last couple of days, I’ve decided to start a REAL exercise routine, including taking a 1/2 hour walk everyday with one of my dogs. I figure I could use the fresh air and I hardly ever play with the dogs otherwise, so I figure this is a good way to get my exercise in and spend time with my dogs.

Lets just say its been an interesting experience. I would advise anyone who is thinking about getting a dog, particularly a medium to large size dog, to get that dog TRAINED. I spent most of yesterday afternoon dragging this wonderful animal:

back to my side as she tried to go and say hello to every dog in the neighborhood.

Today, I decide to take this one:

because she tends to be a bit more calm.

But nooo, she had to go and be a pain in the butt, dragging me every which way to smell all the new smells she was experiencing, and leaving a few of her own. Eww.

So yea, unless you feel like being walked by your dog instead of walking your dog, I would get them trained.

In other news, I am as sore as all get out, but I actually FEEL GOOD. I have (some) energy and have managed to stay pretty productive all day, which isn’t really that normal for me. I tend to veg in front of the computer for hours on end and not do anything, so it felt good to get up and move around and actually DO stuff. Plus, I’m sure my mom is going to appreciate coming home and finding out that she doesn’t have to do the dishes =)

Weight loss is a bitch…

Yes, that is mine and Joe's scale. And hell no, I'm not telling you how much I weigh.

No really, it is.

As many of you know, I struggle with my weight. Its been an ongoing problem for pretty much most of my adult life. There are two reasons for this problem, both 100% my fault:

1. I LOVE TO EAT. I love all kinds of food, and so long as its dead when it gets to my plate, I’ll try most anything at least once. And 9 times out of 10, I love it and will eat it again, and again, and again, and… well you get the point. I love food, and I have a hard time walking away from it.

2. I’m pretty damn sedentary. I sit in front of a computer for most of the day, with little in the way of exercise. If I said I’ve been working on this, I’d be lying. I keep saying I’m going to get in an exercise routine, but it just hasn’t happened.

On the good news side of things, I’ve managed to lose over 10 pounds since I started dieting, and I have to say, I feel wonderful. I found a WEBSITE that helps me track what I’m eating throughout the day, and how much exercise I’ve been getting in. I’ve joined a community of women who are trying to lose a large amount of weight, and the support has been wonderful. I have to say, it’s all about having a support system. Since I started the group, I’ve been drinking more water, which is making me have to pee every 10 minutes, but I FEEL better. I have more energy, which helps me get through the day without napping, and I don’t get nearly as many headaches.

I’ve also been eating breakfast on a pretty regular basis, but I’ve fallen off the wagon the last few days. My challenge is Joe’s day’s off when I don’t have to be up right away. I didn’t do so well this week, but I’m going to try to change that next week. We’ll see how that goes.

I could really use the support of my readers, so if you’d be so kind as to leave some encouragement in the form of your weight loss story (if you have one) or the struggles you’ve endured in trying to lose weight, I’d really appreciate it.
